Approximately twenty-five thousand homes in Queensland's southeast were left lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms impacted the state, generating powerful gusts hitting 109km/h.

Substantial Hailstones and Widespread Destruction

Residents witnessed large ice chunks as large as 7 centimeters in particular locations. Meteorological experts confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

At one point on the previous day, more than 28,000 electricity consumers in Victoria were experiencing outages.

Weather Forecast

Moist weather were predicted to continue along significant areas of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.

Tuesday was expected to become the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across various areas of both regions.

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
