The second-hand marketplace Users Share Frustration Regarding Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.
The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
